A Civil War Cap POUCH carried on belt by soldiers armed with percussion firearm. Post CW Cavalry began using pistols firing metallic rounds, the Cap Pouch was authorized to carry the loose pistol rounds.
This speciman shows no use, has much wool lining remaining, the cone pick is still in place. Has the ordnance inspectors stamp. Leather is supple, not broken down at fastener tab, stitching tight, rivets present and tight. See pictures for condition and appearance.
