This set of original Civil War manufacture pattern 1859 McClellan saddle bags were apparently surplus at the end of the war and marketed by a civilian saddle maker. The Pueblo firm stamped on both flaps S. Began business in 1869 and we feel these stamps date to that very early period. In looking up under the flaps we do not see the thin leather strip thongs under one so assume it is missing.
The other bag has the thin ties. The flap billets have been fastened for decades and we do not want to risk damage in trying to open them.
As you can see these are otherwise very nice and show very limited use. Your satisfaction is 100% guaranteed. Check our other interesting auctions! Terms of Sale - Please Read Carefully.
